The death is not considered suspicious.

Willem Rennie’s body was found on April 2, said Comox Valley RCMP. B.C. Coroners Service is investigating.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Willem James Rennie has passed away,” his family wrote on the Facebook page dedicated to finding Rennie. “After missing for 11.5 months he has come home to his family. We are eternally grateful to those individuals who found him and to all those who have provided support in so many ways over the last year.”

Rennie, 25, was last seen in the Courtenay area on April 19, 2016. His 1999 blue, two-tone Chevrolet pickup truck was found at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds on Headquarters Road.

“Willem was a father, he loved his son more than words can describe,” the family said in a statement in October, six months after he went missing.
