A memorial service will be held Thursday for a University of Victoria PhD student in the School of Public Administration who died unexpectedly Jan. 8.

Harold Roderick MacIsaac, 46, was found by police in his Saanich home in the 3900-block of Cedar Hill Cross Road at about 3 p.m.. Foul play is not suspected.

BC Coroners Service is investigating and is awaiting toxicology results, which typically take 4-6 weeks, said Vancouver Island regional coroner Matt Brown.

An autopsy has not determined the manner or cause of death.

MacIsaac had only days left on his co-op term with the Health Ministry when he was one of seven employees fired after an internal privacy breach investigation. None of the allegations have been proved in court.

Two of the Health Ministry employees are suing the province while three others, including MacIsaac, filed grievances through the B.C. Government Employees Union to be heard in May.

The service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in UVic’s Interfaith Chapel. The service is for friends and colleagues. A reception will follow in Room 300 in the university’s Human and Social Development Building
