Travellers were faced with a significant delay Monday when a medical emergency involving a B.C. Ferries crew member led to the cancellation of two sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay.

The 11:05 a.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay was cancelled along with the 1:25 p.m. sailing from Departure Bay. Customers with reservations were accommodated on later sailings.

The schedule was back to normal through the afternoon, but traffic was busy in both directions.

There were sailing waits on the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route due to high post-weekend summer volumes.

Swartz Bay terminal saw extra traffic as participants in the weekend’s Northwest Deuce Days vintage cars events left the Island.
