West Shore RCMP are on the lookout for three men who robbed a Langford man at knifepoint on the Galloping Goose trail.

A 26-year-old man was walking on the trail near the Westshore Town Centre mall about 2:30 p.m. Monday when three men demanded his wallet.

In an effort to protect himself, the victim punched one of the men, who then produced a weapon and took the wallet, police said.

The victim has a swollen hand, but was otherwise unhurt.

In June 2014, a woman was sexually assaulted in the same area, close to the Galloping Goose trail by Jacklin Road.

In March 2015, a woman was punched in the face by a man who took her suitcase as she walked on a path near Hatley Memorial Gardens inColwood, about 2.5 kilometres from Westshore Town Centre.

That same month, a man attacked a woman, knocking her out and taking her cellphone and money while she was jogging on a trail near Glen Lake Beach Park.

West Shore RCMP Const. Alex Berube said Monday’s incident appears to be isolated, but “we encourage trail users to be cautious and travel in pairs.”

The victim was able to give a description of two of the three men who robbed him.

One of the men is described as 18 or 19, between 5-foot-10 and six feet tall and 200 pounds, with red hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a black hoodie, jeans and a red-brimmed ball cap.

A second man was described as five-foot-four, and wearing jeans and a blue sports jersey.

“We are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed these suspects in that area,” Berube said.

West Shore RCMP ask anyone with information to contact them at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
