A Value Village employee went to hospital Monday afternoon after crushing his hand while loading a couch into a compactor.
Victoria firefighters freed him using hydraulic tools.
“He had gotten himself in a position where his arm was caught on the couch and it kept going in. But thankfully it stopped in time, so it was just his hand [that was stuck],” said Victoria Fire acting chief Ross Isherwood.
Isherwood said the hand was compressed, but not mangled.
“He seems pretty good, he’s OK. His hand is injured, but all in all, he’s in good shape.”
B.C. Ambulance paramedics transported the man to hospital.
