A Ladysmith-based medical-marijuana producer is recalling dried cannabis after tests found pesticides in some samples.
Broken Coast Cannabis Ltd. is recalling three batches of marijuana sold between July and December 2016.
The recall notice says no patients have reported getting sick from the products and that the contaminants are not likely to cause any adverse health consequences.
A spot test of Broken Coast products was conducted following an inspection of its premises in March 2017, the recall notice says. A random sampling of products detected myclobutanil and spinosad in some cannabis oil.
Further tests found myclobutanil in a sample of dried marijuana.
The chemicals are found in pest-control products approved for use in food production, but not in any of the 17 pesticides authorized for use on cannabis under the Pest Control Products Act.
On its website, Broken Coast says it is notifying all clients who purchased the affected batches.
Health Canada recommends that any individual affected by the recall immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Broken Coast Cannabis Ltd. at 1-888-486-7579.
