Langford has closed access to Humpback Road at the E&N Railway crossing.
Emergency vehicles will be able to use the road, but general traffic will not.
The City of Langford said the closing was imposed by the Island Corridor Foundation as a condition of the E&N crossing installed at the new West Shore Parkway.
The 3.5-kilometre, $22.5-million parkway opened this month. It connects the Trans-Canada Highway and Sooke Road, providing a north-south connection between the two major arteries. The road includes roundabout intersections, cycling lanes, wide sidewalks, transit stops and artificial turf medians.
Irwin Road was extended in July to provide a connection between Humpback Road and West Shore Parkway.
