Hiker, 22, found dead in park west of Shawnigan Lake

A 22-year-old hiker was found dead on Thursday, a day after he was reported missing. Shawnigan Lake RCMP said the man was reported missing when he did not show up for his ride at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The B.C. Coroners Service was en route to Koksilah River Provincial Park, where a missing hiker was found dead.

A 22-year-old hiker was found dead on Thursday, a day after he was reported missing.

Shawnigan Lake RCMP said the man was reported missing when he did not show up for his ride at 7 p.m. Wednesday. He had been hiking in the woods in Koksilah River Provincial Park, west of Shawnigan Lake.

Cowichan Search and Rescue was called to help police look for the man in the Burnt Bridge area.

Search crews found his body about 11 a.m. Thursday.

RCMP said the coroner was en route to the park.
