ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford police are asking Greater Victoria residents to keep an eye out for a missing 59-year-old woman.

Police have received reports that Erica Schmidt, missing since Oct. 5, has been seen in Victoria, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

“We’ve received information from citizens sighting her in Victoria, but we’ve also had tips she’s been seen in Surrey, Chilliwack and Manning Park,” he said.

“Our investigators are chasing down all those tips to see if they are relevant.”

Schmidt left her Abbotsford home between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5 without any belongings, a vehicle or a cellphone.

A surveillance video from later that day shows Schmidt walking near Abbotsford’s Jubilee Park at 3:15 p.m. In the video, Schmidt is wearing a light blue jacket, a long dark skirt and flat shoes, and is carrying a large black purse.

“We’re trying to piece together were she went from there,” MacDonald said.

Schmidt is five-foot-four and 140 pounds with short brown hair and blue eyes. She may be wearing a red hoodie.

Abbotsford police ask anyone with information about Schmidt to call them at 604-859-5225 or text 222973 (abbypd).

To report a sighting of Schmidt in Victoria, call the Victoria Police Department at 250-995-7654.
