An alert member of the Comox RCMP seized a loaded handgun and prohibited drugs during a traffic stop in Courtenay.
The arrest happened while police were looking for impaired drivers last weekend. The motorist had been arrested for driving while prohibited when the gun and drugs were found.
“A seemingly routine traffic stop can quickly evolve into a significant investigation,” said Comox RCMP Const. Monika Terragni.
The driver has been released on a promise to appear in court.
