Four taken to hospital after Trans-Canada crash in Langford

Westshore RCMP continue to investigate a vehicle collision in the eastbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway near the Leigh Road off-ramp in Langford Saturday shortly after 6 p.m.

Initial unconfirmed reports had multiple vehicles involved but police now say two vehicles crashed with the possibility a third was involved.

Four people were injured and all were transported to Victoria General Hospital by four B.C. Ambulance Service vehicles. Some of the injured had to be extracted from their vehicle by firefighters.

β€œAll had non-life threatening injuries, however one person did sustain serious injuries requiring surgery,” RCMP Sgt. Todd Preston said Sunday.

A multi-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway near Leigh Road in Langford sent four people to hospital shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

One of them was in critical condition, said Pamela Gole, spokeswoman for B.C. Emergency Health Services.

The three others were in less serious condition with unknown injuries, she said.

7:30 p.m. β€” Highway 1 in Langford is closed in both directions after a crash at Leigh Road.

Drive B.C. says the road near Goldstream Provincial Park has been reduced to single-lane alternating traffic, with delays of up to 30 minutes.
