A group of five boaters — two kayakers and three people in an inflatable dinghy — were rescued by Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue volunteers after they got into trouble off Metchosin on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Members of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue retrieved a group of boaters who got into trouble in strong winds Saturday afternoon off Parry Bay in Metchosin.

Two people fell out of their tandem kayak and couldn’t get back in, said a marine controller with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria. Three others were in an inflatable dinghy.

Members of the rescue group brought all five people back to shore.

At the time, the winds were gusting up to 46 kilometres an hour.

“It was very, very windy,” the controller said.
