A Duncan man has been charged after an injured woman told police she had been beaten and held captive for three days.

Kehar Sangha, 52, was arrested on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, he was charged with nine counts, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and unlawful confinement or imprisonment.

Sangha remains in custody. A bail hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday in Duncan provincial court.

According to a statement from North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP, officers responded to a 911 call on the afternoon of April 11 in North Cowichan, where they found the woman with severe injuries to her face.

A contractor told CHEK News that he was working on a house near Herd Road when a woman, who was badly beaten and in handcuffs, came up and asked him for help.

The woman told the contractor she had been held for three days and tortured.

RCMP officers spent Thursday searching a property on Stamps Road, where the woman said she was held, for evidence.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to contact them at 250-748-5522.
