The driver of a pickup truck is being investigated for impaired driving by Port Alberni RCMP after trying to leave the scene of an early-evening collision last week. He was instead caught by police.
Police said that the pickup was travelling north in the southbound lane on Beaver Creek Road on Dec. 7, causing two southbound drivers to manoeuvre out of the way. A third southbound vehicle was unable to avoid the pickup and collided with it head-on. Injuries were minor. A 23-year-old Port Alberni man is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 28.
