Hydro chose to turn off the power because of a dangerous situation created by the theft of copper ground wire conductors from about 300 poles.
B.C. Hydro spokesman Ted Olynyk said late Saturday that electricity was turned on briefly to power the community’s gas station and allow residents to fill up on fuel to power their generators. Hydro crews planned to return Sunday to try and safely restore power to the community.
