One of the drivers allowed to attend a workshop rather than pay a fine for using an electronic device behind the wheel has been nabbed again.

Thirty-three drivers took advantage of the opportunity in December, taking part in a three-hour educational session to avoid a $543 fine.

Now a Victoria traffic cop reports that a driver from the course has been hit with a fine after all, after being observed using a device Thursday afternoon at Cook Street and Hillside Avenue.

“Unbelievable,” the officer said in a post on Twitter.

The workshop, organized by Victoria police and Victoria Restorative Justice, was held after officers gave out 42 tickets over two days for illegal use of devices while driving. Participants ranged from their 20s to 60s.
