The disappearance of 25-year-old former Camosun College student Euarchol Wanichpan is now considered suspicious and is being investigated by the Island’s major crime unit.

Saanich police confirmed the case has been handed over to the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, which investigates suspicious deaths and homicides.

Wanichpan was last seen by a friend in the Lansdowne area of Saanich on the evening of July 30 and might have been heading downtown.

She was reported missing the next day.

Police said she has not been active on social media and has not made contact with family or friends.

According to social media postings, Wanichpan attended Victoria High School before enrolling at Camosun College several years ago.

Ivan Watson, a spokesman for Camosun College, said Wanichpan is no longer attending Camosun but could not say when she left or if she graduated.

“During this difficult time, our thoughts are with her family and friends,” Watson said. “Should her parents reach out to the college, we will endeavor to support them however we can.”

One friend said she used to work at her father’s Thai restaurant.

Wanichpan is also known as “Ella” or “Eura.” She is Asian, five feet tall and about 105 pounds. She has brown eyes and dyed blond hair.

She has several tattoos, including a hummingbird and flower her shoulder, a ship’s anchor on her right knee, and a ship’s wheel on her left knee.

Police and her family are very concerned for her well-being.

Anyone who has information on Wanichpan’s whereabouts is asked to call the police major crime unit at 250-380-6211.
