Irene Paquet, 67, had been missing for five days near Chemainus.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are searching for 67-year-old Irene Paquet, who is thought to have left her home sometime after July 28 in a 2010 white Hyundai Accent with B.C. licence CB998C.

Police were contacted Monday by Paquet’s daughter, who told them she had not seen her mother since July 28 and was worried she might be lost. Paquet has a medical condition requiring medication, which had been left at the home.

Paquet is new to Vancouver Island and does not typically travel far from the area around Chemainus or Duncan, police said.

Checks with hospitals and the Cowichan Neighbourhood House Association, where she volunteers, have not led police to Paquet.

Paquet is described as white, five-foot-two and 146 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

RCMP ask anyone with information to contact them at 250-748-5522.
