Comox Valley RCMP have turned over to the B.C. Coroners Service the case of a cyclist dying after being located in a ditch.

The 67-year-old man was found in distress Jan. 3 but was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. Police said then that they did not know if the man had been hit by a vehicle, lost control or had a medical issue.

“At this time we can confirm that there was no collision that caused this tragic accident,” Comox Valley RCMP Const. Rob Gardner said in a statement Monday.
