Courtenay man, 57, wounded in possible targeted shooting

A man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Salisbury Road in Courtenay.

A 57-year-old Courtenay man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound. The shooting is thought to have been targeted and no one has been arrested.

Comox Valley RCMP Const. Rob Gardner said police responded to a call at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Salisbury Road in Courtenay, where they found a man with non-life threatening injuries.

The man was taken to the local hospital by the B.C. Ambulance Service, Gardner said.

“The investigation is ongoing and it appears this was a targeted shooting,” he said.

The Comox Valley RCMP major-crimes section is heading the investigation with the assistance of the police-dog service and the integrated forensic identification section, he said.
