An abused and abandoned dog with bullet wounds and a broken leg has found a happy home with two loving owners, the B.C. SPCA reports.
RCMP found Holly the lab cross at a landfill outside Port Alberni in November. She was also suffering from mange and had rope burns on her leg.
On Saturday morning, a young couple adopted Holly, who will require plenty of post-injury treatment.
The woman is believed to be one of the veterinary staff members who worked on Holly when she first arrived.
“She’s going to just a fantastic home where she will be loved and taken care of,” said Penny Stone, manager at the Victoria SPCA.
There is an investigation to determine who mistreated the dog, Stone said.
Holly’s new owners are a couple who are in their 30s and from the capital region, say SPCA staff, who add that a long list of animals is still waiting to be adopted.
In addition to cats and dogs, the shelter has plenty of rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, chinchillas and birds.
