The Dinos of Canada series depicts beasts from Canada’s geological past, including the Comox Valley elasmosaur.

A fossil of what Canada Post describes as a vicious marine reptile with a neck nearly seven metres long was discovered in the Comox Valley in 1988 by Michael Trask and his 12-year-old daughter. It is now in the Courtenay and District Museum and Palaeontology Centre.

The post office notes the fossil, which has not yet been given a scientific name, is from a creature that roamed the area about 83 million years ago.
