Victoria public works employees found little to investigate Monday after what appeared to be an oil spill in Gorge Waterway near the Selkirk Trestle over the weekend.
A city spokeswoman said public works officials now believe the spill is the result of Sunday’s rain. It’s usual for rain, especially after a long dry spell, to wash material off pavement and ground which then spills into places like the Gorge.
The city spokeswoman said the spill was first noticed Sunday and a containment boom was put in place.
When city workers returned on Monday, the spill appeared to have dissipated.
