A man is being investigated for drunk driving after he crashed his vehicle in Sooke late Saturday night and tried to hide from police.
A witness reported that a car had crashed into a ditch in the 5300-block of Sooke Road about 10:20 p.m., said Sooke RCMP Cpl. Joe Holmes. The witness also saw the driver run from the vehicle through the bushes.
When Mounties arrived on scene, the driver could not be found.
A Victoria police canine unit was called and tracked the driver to an area near the Galloping Goose Trail.
The driver was located and was taken to hospital. The man is under investigation for impaired driving, but charges have not yet been laid, Holmes said.
