Two men have been charged with drug-trafficking offences after being arrested Wednesday by Campbell River RCMP.

The men were in a vehicle stopped by officers. Evidence gathered from the vehicle led police to a rental unit near Campbell River that contained 215 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale, more than $1,850 in cas, several cellphones, a replica firearm, two marine flare guns, a prohibited spring-loaded knife and electronic equipment that is believed to have been stolen.

“This investigation would not have been possible if not for members of the public calling in suspicious activity and suspected drug-trafficking in their neighbourhoods,” Campbell River RCMP Cpl. Ron Vlooswyk said in statement.

“Citizens are encouraged to report all suspected drug trafficking in their neighbourhoods to the Campbell River RCMP, or to contact Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.”

Charges have been brought against Andrew Best, 18, of Surrey and 33-year-old Lucas O’Day of Campbell River.
