The body of Brandon Lee Blanford, 36, of Bremerton, Washington, was reported missing by family members in Hansville, Washington on Dec. 11. His body was found by two men beachcombing on Jackspring Beach, said coroner Barb McLintock.
The body did not have any identification. An investigation involving the Coroners Service, Sidney RCMP, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the FBI lasted five days. It confirmed the dead man was Blanford.
“Because of the the tides and currents, chances were high he was from the U.S.,” said McLintock. “We were in contact quite early on from Washington state authorities.”
McLintock said investigators are still working out what happened to Blanford.
“It’s not likely to be suspicious, but we haven’t 100 per cent ruled that out. There’s a number of possibilities and we’re still investigating cause of death,” said McLintock
Blanford’s family has been notified.
