A wildfire north of Campbell River has been contained.

As of Thursday afternoon, crews with the B.C. Wildfire Service had contained 100 per cent of the fire. It was 20 per cent mopped up, said Marg Drysdale, information officer with the Coastal Fire Service.

“They’ll continue to work on that fire for the next day or two,” Drysdale said.

The cause of the blaze, which was about seven hectares in size, is still under investigation, she said.

The fire was first reported Tuesday. It started two kilometres south of Roberts Lake, 25 kilometres north of Campbell River and 300 metres from Highway 19.

It occurred in an area with felled and bucked timber, which means the area had been logged.
