Gas prices in Victoria area reach highest level in decade

Greater Victoria drivers are paying gas prices not seen here in a decade. The average price per litre for regular gasoline jumped by nine cents Thursday to $1.499 in the capital region, according to Gasbuddy.com, an online tracking site.

Greater Victoria drivers are paying gas prices not seen here in a decade.

The average price per litre for regular gasoline jumped by nine cents Thursday to $1.499 in the capital region, according to Gasbuddy.com, an online tracking site.

Many stations in the region had been selling gas at $1.409 prior to this lateast increase.

Prices hadn’t gone up everywhere. As of Thursday evening, the Costco in Langford was selling gas at $1.379, the lowest price in the region.

In early 2008, prices at the pump hit $1.455, rising to $1.536 by summer, a Gasbuddy chart showed.
