Scrap metal is again being loaded onto the barge in the Gorge Waterway that tipped its load of scrap cars into the water.

Michael Geoghegan, of Schnitzer Steel, said the barge is being loaded up with scrap metal again. But loading adjustments have been made to ensure it doesn’t dump its load again.

Geoghegan said engineers have gone over the previous incident and made adjustments to Schnitzer’s loading procedure to make sure it doesn’t topple again.

On Aug. 28 the same barge, No. 193 owned by Seaspan confirmed Seaspan spokesman Jeff Taylor, was being loaded by crane while it was tied up near Jutland Road.

The barge tipped over, dumping as many as 100 scrap vehicles into the water.

Geoghegan also said the scrap metal has now been cleared up.
