Victoria blasted through its record high temperature for Nov. 27 on Thursday.

The old record was 13.3 C, set in 1946. Thursday’s temperature reached 17 C and was a Canadian high.

At 7 a.m., the temperature at Victoria international Airport was 10 C. It rose to 17 C at 11 a.m. and settled around 15 C for the afternoon.

“We have some tropical flow from the vicinity of Hawaii bringing moisture and warmth across the south coast,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist.

The record high for the month is 18.3 C, set on Nov. 5, 1975.

Colder weather is on the way, with a low of - 5 C late Saturday and early Sunday and there's a chance of snow flurries.

In a special weather statement issued Thursday night, Environment Canada said a ridge of high pressure over the B.C. Interior will push cold Arctic air into the south coast.

"As is typically the case with snowfall scenarios over the south coast, there is uncertainty in the amount and timing of snowfall accumulations."
