West Shore commuters should prepare for a slower crawl to and from downtown Victoria this week.

The Town of View Royal has posted advisories of asphalt patching on Old Island Highway from Tuesday to Thursday.

The repairs will occur between Admirals Road and the Colwood Interchange from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Lane closures with alternating traffic will be in effect.

“We recommend the use of alternate routes if at all possible due to the heavy traffic volumes on this roadway and the expected lengthy queues,” the advisory says.

“We ask that you lower your speed and use caution when travelling through the work zone.”

Traffic-control workers will assist pedestrians and cyclists through the work zone and emergency vehicles will have immediate access, as required.

The work is weather-dependent.
