Victoria artist Eva Campbell is thrilled to be reunited with a missing painting, thanks to a fan who bought the work for $60 in a thrift shop.

The man, who wants to remain anonymous, had previously purchased some of Campbell’s work and wondered why it would be offered at such a low price.

He contacted her after seeing a Times Colonist article about Campbell’s distress that the painting had gone missing after the café where it was hanging closed over the Christmas holidays. He did not ask to be reimbursed for the $60.

The two-by-three-foot depiction of a woman in a red bathing suit was the major panel of a four-piece work that depicts a woman with a telescope on a beach in Barbados.
