A 55-year old-Comox Valley man has been arrested in connection with the Dec. 15 hit-and-run collision in Fanny Bay that killed 48-year-old Paul Bally.

Comox Valley RCMP received a tip that led them to a property where a 2003 Ford F350 truck was seized and the man was arrested about 8 p.m. Wednesday on charges related to failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

The man will appear in Courtenay provincial court today.

Bally, a father of two, teacher at Lake Trail Middle School and volunteer firefighter, was riding his bicycle along the Old Island Highway in Fanny Bay when he was struck by a vehicle.

His wife, Evelyn, was worried when he didn’t return after almost four hours, so she called police and went out to search. She found her husband in a roadside ditch. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.
