NANAIMO — The man accused of shootings that claimed the lives of two workers at the Western Forest Products mill in Nanaimo on April 30 will next appear in court on July 8.

Kevin Douglas Addison, a former employee of the mill, faces two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder with a firearm.

He made a brief court appearance by video from jail on Tuesday as his lawyer and Crown agreed to set a date for the next appearance.

The court heard that Addison’s lawyer needs more time to review information from the Crown on the case.

Two employees at the mill, Michael Lunn and Fred McEachern, were shot and killed.

Two other men, Tony Sudar and Earl Kelly, were also wounded. Sudar was shot in the face but made a full recovery, while Kelly's injuries were more severe, requiring a longer stay in hospital.

Members of Lunn's family were in court on Tuesday.
