Accused in Nanaimo sawmill shooting to set trial date in April

The man accused in last year’s shooting at the Western Forest Products sawmill in Nanaimo will be in B.C. Supreme Court April 13 to set a date for trial, the Nanaimo court registry said Friday.

The preliminary inquiry wrapped up Friday for Kevin Douglas Addison, who faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder with a firearm. Addison is a former employee at the mill.

The April 30, 2014, shootings claimed the lives of two mill employees, Michael Lunn and Fred McEachern. Two others, Tony Sudar and Earl Kelly, were injured.

Details of the preliminary hearing cannot be reported because of a publication ban.
