No one on land likely felt a 4.9-magnitude earthquake that struck off the west coast of Vancouver Island about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, says Natural Resources Canada seismologist Alison Bird.

Bird said the quake was centred 162 kilometres west of Port Alice. She said there was no damage, and the quake was far too small to generate any tsunami concern.
