• Victoria Canada Day Celebration at the legislature grounds and Inner Harbour, noon. Coast Capital Savings Living Flag T-Shirt pickup at 12:30 p.m. (assemble at 1:30 p.m. for 2 p.m. photo); Singing of the national anthem at 3 p.m. and stage entertainment, 1-9:20 p.m. with Mother Mother, followed by fireworks at 10:20 p.m.; victoriacanadaday.ca.

• Sidney Days featuring a pancake breakfast at 8 p.m., Sidney Canada Day Parade starting at 11:30 a.m., family fun fair, 12:30-4 p.m. at Iroquois Park, dog show at 1:30 p.m., watermelon eating contest at 2 p.m. and Slegg Lumber Build-A-Boat, noon-4:30 p.m. at Beacon Park with boat race at 4:30 p.m. Go to peninsulacelebrations.ca.

• Gorge Canada Day Picnic and Gorge on Art. Music, food and markets at traffic-free family event, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Gorge Waterway Park.

• Canada Day Sooke Celebrations at Sooke River Campgrounds, 2259 Phillips Rd. Opening ceremonies, 1 p.m. (gates open at noon) with Canada Day cake at 1:30 p.m. Music, games and pie-eating contest, 2 p.m. to closing. The British Invasion: The Back-Beat Band at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks; canadadaysooke.com.

• Canada Day Celebrations at Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sight. Dancing, music, fun and birthday cake, 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; 21-gun salute at noon.

• Canada Day Old-Time Penny Carnival at the Royal B.C. Museum, bring your pennies for egg-and-spoon race, bean-bag toss and more. 1-3 p.m. at 675 Belleville St., on the grounds of Helmcken House and St. Ann’s Schoolhouse.

• Bear Mountain Canada Day Run. Dress in red and white for five-kilometre and 1.5-km family fun run, 9 a.m.

• Canada Day Saturna Island Lamb Barbecue, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at Hunter Field, Winter Cove, Gulf Island National Park Reserve. More at staturnalambbarbeque.com.
