An unabashed supporter of B.C. Conservative Party Leader John Cummins has joined the race for party president, setting up a weekend showdown in Langley between those for and against Cummins.
Vancouver Island Conservative Al Siebring says he is a strong backer of Cummins and he has been calling supporters in his run for the party presidency.
Siebring's eight-member slate, dubbed the A-Team, faces a challenge from a group calling for a leadership review led by current party vice-president Ben Besler, who is running for party president.
Conservatives gathering Saturday in Langley will vote on whether they want to review the leadership of Cummins, which could force him from his job.
The party constitution says the leader must step down if a majority of party members vote in favour of a leadership review.
Former New Westminster Conservative MP Paul Forseth is also running for party president.
