One of Uptown's anchor buildings rises like a geometric sculpture on the former site of Town and Country Shopping Centre in Saanich. The $300-million Uptown project, with retail stores and offices, is being promoted as Saanich's new downtown. This building is slated for office and retail uses -- the tenant list includes B.C. Assessment and Future Shop. Some businesses will move into Uptown in February. The project's largest tenant, a Wal-Mart superstore, is scheduled to open in July.
