A vehicle travelling northbound on the Trans-Canada Highway crashed Monday night resulting in the death of its driver, West Shore RCMP said.
The male driver was ejected from the vehicle after losing control just before the intersection at Aspen Road.
A passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, RCMP said.
The cause of the single vehicle crash has yet to be determined, though RCMP believe the vehicle struck a rockface on either side of the highway.
Shortly before midnight, traffic on the Malahat was reduced to a single lane.
