A rare civic funeral is to be held Monday for the man who died in a shooting at a party celebrating the Parti Québécois election victory.
The funeral for stagehand Denis Blanchette will be held at St. Donat Church in Montreal.
A provincial government statement said the flag at the Quebec legislature will fly at half-mast.
Blanchette, a freelance stagehand, died when a gunman opened fire at the PQ victory celebration - a second person was wounded.
Civic funerals are usually reserved for public figures and police officers slain in the line of duty.
The idea of honouring Blanchette was raised Thursday when PQ leader Pauline Marois and Premier Jean Charest met to discuss the transition of power.
The man charged in the killing of Blanchette, Richard Henry Bain, faces 16 criminal charges including first-degree murder, attempted murder and arson. He next appears in court Oct. 11.
