Amid growing public opposition in New Brunswick over the proposed $4.75-billion Hydro-Quebec deal to purchase NB Power assets, the interprovincial power negotiations have been expanded to include Prince Edward Island.
On Friday, Quebec Premier Jean Charest announced the kickoff of formal negotiations between P.E.I. and Quebec during a speech in Boston to an energy conference.
In the release, New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham welcomed the expanded negotiations, saying his province's development as an energy hub will be strengthened. P.E.I.'s collaboration will benefit all three provinces.
