The Victoria Airport Authority says its name is being used in a telephone scam.

The Victoria Airport Authority is warning airport customers and area residents about a phone scam from people claiming to be from the airport.

Con artists are calling people and asking for personal financial information, the authority said in a release today.

Callers will say they represent the airport and that you have won up to $1,000 toward your next trip, the release said.

They will tell people that they need to meet a couple of eligibility requirements and then ask for personal financial information.

“Please do not give out any personal information.”

It appears other Canadian airports are also being affected, it said.

“The VAA would never solicit any of our customers in this way or ever request any confidential information,” the release said.
