Trevor Cheek scores hat trick as Vancouver cruises past Prince George 8-4

VANCOUVER - Trevor Cheek scored a hat trick as the Vancouver Giants cruised past the Prince George Cougars 8-4 in Western Hockey League play Sunday.

Cheek scored one goal shorthanded, one on a power play and another at even strength for the league-worst Giants (10-27-0), who broke a 3-3 tie with three unanswered goals in the second period.

Brett Kulak, Wes Vannieuwenhuizen, Tyler Morrison, Kale Kessy and Mason Geertsen also scored for Vancouver, while Dalton Sward and Anthony Ast each added three assists.

Troy Bourke led Prince George (12-20-5) with two goals, while Colin Jacobs and Chase Witala added singles.

Vancouver's Tyler Fuhr made 22 saves, while Mac Engel stopped 35 shots for the Cougars.
