CRANBROOK, B.C. - Mackenzie Skapksi stopped 31 shots as the Kootenay Ice downed the visiting Spokane Chiefs 4-1 on Friday in Western Hockey League play.

Austin Vetterl had a goal and an assist for the Ice (25-27-2) while Luke Philp, Jon Martin and Levi Cable each scored once.

Mitch Holmberg scored the lone goal for the Chiefs (31-21-2), who have won just three of their last 11 outings.

Eric Williams picked up the loss after allowing four goals on 25 shots in 48 minutes of action. Garret Hughson replaced Williams midway through the third period and stopped all seven shots he faced in relief.
