KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A trial date has been set for an international student studying in Kamloops, B.C., after a fellow student was stabbed in the eye with a pool cue.

Kamloops RCMP say the alleged incident occurred last November at a city night club.

The 28-year-old Saudi Arabian national, suffered brain damage.

He is believed to be recovering in Kamloops, although Mounties say they have only been in contact with his family through the Saudi embassy.

Twenty-six-year-old Yousef Almotairi, who is also from Saudi Arabia, is charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.

He has been ordered to return to B.C. Supreme Court in Kamloops on July 22, for a trial by judge alone. (CHNL)
