McKinlay scores twice as the Rockets beat the Giants

VANCOUVER - Dylen McKinlay scored twice to lead the Kelowna Rockets to a 5-3 win over the host Vancouver Giants in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.

The 20-year-old opened the scoring just 31 seconds into the game and added a shorthanded goal to ice the game in the third as the Rockets won for the 13th time in their last 15 tries.

Colten Martin scored the winner in the third period and added two assists while Cody Fowlie and Tyrell Goulbourne also scored for Kelowna (25-10-2).

Trevor Cheek, Carter Popoff and Cain Franson replied for the Giants (9-26-0) who have dropped three in a row and remain in last place in the WHL.

Jackson Whistle stopped 24 shots for the win as Tyler Fuhr made 14 saves in a losing cause.

Kelowna went 1 for 5 with the power play while Vancouver scored twice on five chances with the man advantage
