Magee with three points as the Royals down the Americans

VICTORIA - Brandon Magee scored twice and set up one more as the Victoria Royals downed the visiting Tri-City Americans 5-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League play.

Steven Hodges, Tim Traber and Brett Cote also scored for the Royals (20-15-3), who won for the first time in three outings, while Alex Gogolev chipped in with three assists.

Brian Williams and Connor Rankin scored for the Americans (22-15-3).

Patrik Polivka made 30 saves for the win as Eric Comrie turned away 28-of-32 shots in a losing cause.

Victoria went 0 for 4 on the power play while Tri-City scored once on five chances with the man advantage.
