Richard Bourgeois and Michelle Wishard won $7 million in Saturday's Lotto 6/49.

Richard Bourgeois and partner Michelle Wishard are on the lookout for a new home to replace their eight-metre travel trailer.

Nothing fancy, just something clean, comfortable and warm: perhaps a new double-wide.

“We don’t want a very expensive, fancy one,” said the 48-year-old Wishard after the couple claimed their $7-million Lotto 6/49 prize at the B.C. Lottery Corp. main office on Monday. “Just something modern, small. We have a financial investor to help us out. I also want a brand new truck.”

The Langley couple was still in a state of shock Monday after their number came up big in Saturday’s draw.

“We were getting worried about how we were going to pay the bills,” said Bourgeois, who found out about their win at around 9 p.m. Saturday.

“I was checking the ticket online and saw we had one number. Then two and then all six,” said Bourgeois. “This is just surreal and unbelievable!

“We drank a case of beer each.”

Bourgeois recently started a new job driving a truck, while Wishard, 43, was collecting employment insurance when they won.

“I didn’t know what to feel,” said Wishard. “I was pretty excited and I didn’t believe it. I have three kids and a granddaughter. I’ll be helping them out.”

Their immediate plans? “I’ll drive to Newfoundland over the next week,” said Bourgeois. “That where my family’s from.

“This will change our lives so much for the better. I won’t have to work any more and I can take care of my family, and travel.

“We’ll sell the car and (Michelle) can get her own car.”

Previously, both Bourgeois and Wishard worked for an amusement company. “We didn’t want to go back on the road with the carnival,” said Bourgeois.
