A wildfire near Fort Nelson is getting and looks bigger than originally reported, provincial authorities reported Saturday.

The B.C. Wildfire Management Branch estimates the Klua Lakes fire is now 1,400 hectares in size after branch personnel flew over the blaze Saturday.

An evacuation alert affecting 125 people is in effect for the Prophet River community and surrounding areas.

No buildings have been lost to the fire. The wildfire, reported Thursday, is suspected to be lightning caused.
